Master Photographer Moves to Worcester

There is a new  veteran of  35 years of  professional  photography who has become  a  member of  the  Worcester  Community.  His name is Rick English.  Since 1968, he has lived  in the Merrimack Valley , which includes the cities and towns of Lawrence , Methuen , Andover , North Andover , MA and Salem , NH . His studio has been located  in Salem , NH since 1980. In November of 2000,  the 5th to be exact,  Rick  married  Kimberly Wells  of   Worcester , MA  and began his slow migration back to Massachusetts .

Rick, Kim and her two sons, Eric and Giles and the family’s  golden retriever puppy “Casey”, now reside at 282 Burncoat Street , Worcester , MA 01606 . The new studio is located in their home, in a separate part of the house. Rick’s photography studio is described, by him, as a “General Practitioners” studio. “I do about 60% weddings, 20% commercial, 10% portrait and the remainder is a miscellaneous collection of assignments.” Kim is a Registered Nurse working for UMass Memorial Home Health & Hospice. She also is a very active part of the photography studio. She has won awards in the art of Digital Photography from the Professional Photographers Association of New England and has had her digital work shown at the annual Professional Photographers of America, Inc. International convention’s Print Competition, in July, 2002.

Awards are not foreign to Rick. He holds the very prestigious Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional Photographers of America, Inc.  He has also been Certified as a professional photographer by the Professional Photographers of America, Inc. In 1995, Rick became one of only 49 individuals, world wide, to hold the Associate Degree from the American Society of Photographers and one (1) of only four photographers to accomplish this level of competency on his first attempt. One of Rick’s wedding photographs was selected for exhibition at PPA’s International Print Competition and was then chosen by Kodak to hang at the Eastman Kodak Pavilion at Epcot Center , in Orland , Florida . He has won numerous “Courts of Honor” for his photography from the New Hampshire PPA and the Maine PPA. In wedding album competition, in New Hampshire , he won “Best of Show”. Not only does Rick enter professional competition, but he has been asked to serve on judging panels at  many New England State PPA conventions.

Don’t be surprised to Rick serving on community activity committees in Worcester . He was very active in the Merrimack Valley , serving on the Board of Directors of the Exchange Club and the Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program. He was the Chief Photographer and Coordinator for a mobile, multimedia presentation to promote the Boating Program. He is still on the Greater Lawrence CBP Board. Rick has been an active member of the Holy Family Mens Guild, the Central Catholic Alumni Guild and when the Town of Salem ’s Kelley Library needed a new computer system, Rick spearheaded the fund raising movement and actually raised the highest single amount, with the Salem Junior Womens Association.

And, as probably could be expected by now, Rick is a retired member of the Board of Trustees for the New England Institute of Professional Photography. He served on the Board for 14 years. He is a Past President of the New Hampshire PPA, the Industrial Photographers of New England (now know as the Commercial/Industrial Photog. of New Eng. ) and the NEIPP Alumni Association. He has served on numerous committees for the Prof. Photog. of America , the Prof. Photog. Assoc. of New England and the New Hampshire PPA. For the past 6 years, Rick has served as the Props Manager for PPA’a International Convention and this year, 2002, as the Vice Chairman of the convention. He has just begun his new assignment as Trustee to the Bahamas School of Professional Photography in Nassau .  His duties will involve the development of  the professional teaching staff that is brought to the school annually along with the actual administrational activities of the school.

Rick, his family and his studio are comfortably settled into their new residence here in Worcester . Rick looks forward to providing the community with cutting edge, high quality, photographic artistry. He is also anxious to get involved with the betterment of the community for everyone sake.
